Room selection is for current housing students only.

Returner Application

Once the Returner Application has been completed you may select roommates through MyHousing after both applicants have submitted the application.

Roommate Selection

Log in to MyNMSU to select your roommate (once all applicants have completed the application). Under roommates tab, find roommate and be sure to match. NOTE: Your current resident Housing deposit will roll over from Fall.

Community Selection Periods

There will be three selection opportunities for each community that will occur in the following order throughout the day, on their specific date. Please make sure to review which selection period either you or your requested roommate group will qualify.

Same Room Selection

Current upper class residents are eligible to individually renew and select to live in their same upper class space for next year during the Same Room Selection period.

Who can select during this period? Current Individual Resident of the Upper Class Community (only same space will be available)

During Same Room Selection, you may select to renew only yourself into your current upper class living space for next year. If you want to select a different room within your same community, you will have wait for the Same Community Selection (open to all current residents of that specific community). Please keep in mind, you are not able to select a space for any student in a matched roommate request group during this selection period. Keep in mind, if you do not select to stay in your space during this Same Room Selection period, it will be released and subject to availability during the next selection timeframe that you are attempting to select it.

Same Community Selection

Current upper class students of the same community are eligible to select a different space within the same upper class community during the Same Community Selection period.

Who can select during this period? Current Residents of the Upper class Community, Roommate Groups Currently Living in Same Upper class Community

Available groups of spaces for that community will be displayed during this room selection period. Keep in mind you must be a current resident of the community or be a roommate request group of only current residents of that same community to be able to select a space for yourself or entire group during this selection period. If you attempt to select a space and have someone in your request group who is not eligible to select (or be assigned) in the specific selection timeframe, they will not be assigned a space and will have to select from a later period they are eligible for.

To assign yourself or your roommate group to a space, click Select Room or Select Suite. Make sure to choose from a Mixed Gender room group if in a mixed gender matched roommate request group. The person entering the selection for a roommate group of three or more will be asked to assign members of their group to specific beds using the dropdown boxes in the Room Booking section. MyHousing will automatically assign and pull eligible matched roommate groups into apartment bedrooms.

All Open Spaces Selection

All current residents of all communities may select a space in the specific upper class community during the All Open Spaces Selection period.

Who can select during this period? Current Residents of the any First Year or Upper class Community, Roommate Groups Currently Living in First Year or Different Upper class Communities.

Available groups of remaining space for that community will be displayed during this last selection period of the day. Any current resident of any community on campus (including Garcia, Juniper, RGH, Pinon) or roommate groups of differing communities may select a space during this period.

MyHousing will confirm your selection, as well as send an email confirmation of your room selection to your NMSU email.
