Graduate Housing

Graduate Housing is a place where graduate students will live with and near other graduate students in a community of diverse individuals who share similar academic or social interests.

Besides the obvious advantages of being on campus, quick and easy access to classes and nearby campus facilities, studies show that students living on campus actually have a better opportunity for growth and success. If you are looking for affordable, mature, apartment-style living, the Department of Housing and Residential Life, The Graduate School, and International Programs invites you to become part of the Graduate and International Student Community.

Apartments feature spacious private bedrooms with shared living, kitchen and bath areas. Benefits of on-campus living include access to on-site computer lab and printers, on-site laundry facility and prompt maintenance.

For more information regarding graduate programs or international programs, please contact The Graduate School.

Inclusive Housing

New Mexico State University and Housing & Residential Life are committed to the success of all our residents. Our Inclusive Housing option allows students to reside in the same room and suite as individuals who may be of another gender or do not identify along the gender binary. Students must opt into the Inclusive Housing experience.

Inclusive Housing, or Gender Inclusive Housing, includes housing for students who do not identify concretely along the gender binary or have special needs related to the gender of the unit for which they are assigned. Students may volunteer to be considered to live in Inclusive Housing or may request to be assigned outright into this unit type. Housing & Residential Life has designated a select number of rooms in each of the residence hall facilities, inclusive of Living Learning Communities, that will be utilized for Inclusive Housing as well as in each of the apartment facilities. If you are a first-year student interested in Inclusive Housing, complete the first year student housing application and select Inclusive Housing. If you are an upper classman, complete the upper-class housing application and select Inclusive Housing.

Student Veterans

New Mexico State University is the first and only university in the nation to offer on-campus housing specifically designated for student veterans and their families transitioning out of the military and into student life. The Department of Housing & Residential Life has worked in conjunction with the Student Veterans Association of NMSU to offer affordable housing on campus to student veterans attending the university full time. A designated portion of Tom Fort Village in Student Family Housing is set aside to create the student veteran community.

Interested student veterans can apply on-line via the Family Housing application and indicate a qualifying status of veteran. A veteran status identification and state or federally issued picture ID are required with the application. For more information, please contact our office at 575-646-3202.
