Housing Properties
First-Year Residence Halls
Located close to Corbett Center Student Union, NMSU Bookstore, and academic classes, our traditional residence halls all offer furnished, suite-style rooms, large lobbies and plenty of outdoor space. Each residence hall has its own personality and environment, offering a variety of choices while providing all the amenities, social interaction, and academic support that students need. All residence halls are available exclusively to first-year residents.
Location
Our four traditional Residence Halls are located in North Campus and just a short walk to anywhere you need to go, including the Corbett Center Student Union.
Other North campus resources for students include:
- Mail: All mailboxes for students living in Juniper, Piñon, Garcia and RGH are located in Garcia Hall.
- North Campus Operations Center: This is where you will pick up large mail packages and also where to go if you lose your key. Located in Garcia Hall Lobby.
- La Vista Learning Center: 10,000 square feet of study space and home to our RHA and NRHH offices, along with state of art classrooms. Located on the second floor in Garcia Hall.

Upper Classmen Housing
Three affordable and convenient apartment communities are available on campus and are open to upperclassmen. All apartments offer furnished spaces with living rooms, full kitchens and private bedrooms. Whether you are interested in our graduate community in Vista del Monte or looking for a newer apartment in Chamisa, we have a variety of wonderful on campus apartment communities.
In addition, Cervantes Village and the Tom Fort/Sutherland community are affordable and convenient on-campus housing options available to students with families. The family housing neighborhoods include a community garden, Pete’s Playground and are in close proximity to Preciado Park.
Location
Chamisa Village is located in North Campus.
Vista Del Monte, Cervantes Village and Tom Fort/Sutherland are located in South Campus.
- South Campus Residential Life Office: Staffed by our friendly RD’s and CA’s, this is where you will go if you have any questions regarding living in south campus.
- South Campus Operation Center: This is where you will pick up large mail packages and also where to go if you lose your key.
- South Campus Community Center: Play games, entertain, and have fun.
- Aggie Express: Features laundry, computer lab, workout facility and full-service convenience store located within Vista Del Monte.
- Chamisa Residents can pick up their mail and packages at the North Campus Operations Center located in the Garcia Hall lobby.
- All mail delivered to students living in Vista del Monte, Cervantes Village and Tom Fort/Sutherland is delivered to USPS lock boxes located within the community.

- Incoming transfer students at the sophomore level and above

Who can live in student family housing?
To qualify for Student Family Housing (SFH), there must be a registered student in the household as part of a family unit. Family units include married couples, married couples with children, single parents with dependent children, domestic partners, and domestic partner with child(ren). Consideration is also given to non-traditional family units such as adult siblings living together without parents, and/or the presence of extended family members.
